Yesterday, a customer called Bajun Cutting Tools, worriedly inquiring whether the continuous breakage of the teeth on the aluminum alloy saw blade of the cutting machine was due to a quality problem with the saw blade itself. Upon further questioning, it was learned that the customer had recently undertaken an order, mainly processing aluminum profiles with a wall thickness of 10mm The aluminum profiles were much thicker than the materials processed previously. Because the workers had little professional knowledge of saw blades, they mistakenly believed that as long as the speed was slowed down, even if the thickness increased slightly, it should be fine. However, contrary to expectations, the saw blade still experienced tooth breakage.
Aluminum alloy saw blade tooth count 120 teeth. Can slowing down the speed really cut thick aluminum? The answer is obviously no. Cutting thick aluminum requires the use of special alloy saw blades, with common tooth counts of 100T、80T and 60T etc.
If the wall thickness of the aluminum material being cut is thicker, such as aluminum rods or plates, the number of teeth on the aluminum saw blade should be relatively sparse. This can effectively avoid aluminum jamming or sticking, preventing tooth breakage caused by increased resistance and friction. Conversely, if it is mainly used to cut thin aluminum profiles, such as door and window profiles, advertising materials, etc., with a wall thickness of only 3mm or less, then a 120 or 140 tooth aluminum saw blade should be selected to ensure a smooth and burr-free cutting surface.
So, how to choose the correct number of teeth? Taking an aluminum alloy saw blade with a diameter of 400mm as an example, for cutting aluminum alloy with a thickness of 0.5~3 mm, it is recommended to use 120T or 140T saw blade; cutting 3 to 8mm wall thickness aluminum profiles, it is suitable to use 100T aluminum alloy saw blade; cutting wall thickness in 8~15mm aluminum profiles, it is suitable to use 80T aluminum alloy saw blade; and for cutting aluminum profiles with a thickness of 15~80mm or less, it is suitable to use 60T aluminum alloy saw blade. Correctly selecting the number of saw blade teeth according to the material thickness is not only related to the smoothness of the cutting surface but also the key to avoiding saw blade tooth breakage.
